The Earths Crust Bakery in Castle Douglas is just a superb little bakery. They do fantastic real bread, slow-fermented, really good healthy stuff and with a couple of options for gluten-free.
The bakery has a rustic, unpolished feel. It is unpretentious and quite quirky which is refreshing but the food really speaks for itself. All their own baked goods like focaccia, pizza, quiche, sausage rolls, croissants and a range of cakes and pastries. They have a good collection of bottled cold drinks and of course artisan teas and coffee. A great atmosphere and very friendly staff.
The bakery is located just off the main street on St. Andrews Street and is only detectable by the handwritten chalkboard sitting out on the pavement.
Additional they do Baking Courses throughout the year featuring the benefits and principals of sourdough and slow-fermented bread.
