Some of the best fishing in Scotland is on the Cree which runs through Newton Stewart and the Bladnoch, close to Wigtown eight miles away. The good news is that you can fish the River Cree directly from the terrace patio or the small embankment below Otter Cottage. Permits are available from FishPal.com.  Additionally, Galloway Angling Centre is the main shop in the region with over 1100sq footage, housing an extensive range of angling equipment and bait for all your fishing needs. There are other lochs nearby where you can fish for salmon, sea trout, brown and rainbow trout but if you want to try boat fishing then Luce Bay is the place to go and holds some of the best Tope fishing in the UK along with coalfish, black bream and mackerel to name a few that also frequent these shores. For beach fishing then Bass is on top of the list along with flatfish or pollack which plentiful in the area.
