Port William is a lovely wee fishing village approximately 15 minutes drive from Otter Cottage. If you visit Port William and are looking for a coffee you will no doubt spot a big blue metal building at the harbour, this is The View, a cafe and community hub with a little shop area. They do light meals, cakes, snacks and drinks and all for a good cause because this is also home to PIRSAC, Port William Inshore Rescue Service a self-funded independent lifeboat service covering Luce Bay and the surrounding area.  As the name suggests ‘the view’ from the cafe is just amazing and even on a rough day it’s fantastic to watch the changing weather with a nice coffee and a scone.

Although there is not much in Port William it is a beautiful run from Otter Cottage around the Machars peninsula. Head down to the Isle of Whithorn, then on to St Nina’s Cave up through Monreith, stop in at Port William then follow the beautiful coast all the way back round to Glenluce.
