Newton Stewart & Minnigaff Traditional Music & Dance Festival is a fantastic weekend in July filled full of great traditional and acoustic music. It happens in and around the town in a range of venues from street busking to ticked events with top headline acts. Whether you like to soak yourself in traditional music or just fancy catching the odd band, there is something for everyone.
There is also an opportunity to learn through a range of workshops in Music, Language, Dance, Photography and Film Making and if you’re under 25 they are often free so bet to check out the website for availability.
As part of the weekend a Scottish Highland Dancing Competition is held at the Minnigaff Playing Fields for dancers from Dumfries and Galloway and there is good Pipe Band music and catering available too.
